Supervisory Board

Tejara Capital Bank is an Islamic investment bank wholly owned by the Federal Government of the United Arab Emirates and managed by the Emirates Investment Authority, where the UAE government aims, through this bank, to provide a qualitative leap in the field of wealth management and consolidate Tejara Capital's position as the largest distributor of Islamic investment funds in the world.

The bank specializes in providing innovative investment services and solutions that are fully compatible with the tolerant Islamic Sharia. First, it is a participating member of the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) and provides its full services in accordance with all its standards. Tejara Capital Investment Bank also has a qualified team of Sharia auditors that directly supervises all the activities of the bank and submits periodic technical reports on the bank's compliance with the decisions of the Shariah Board.

As for the Shari’a Supervisory Board, it is an independent body from all the bank’s departments, and it consists of experts in the field of Shari’a and Islamic economics who supervise all the bank’s activities and business. The board examines and scrutinizes all contracts and transactions to ensure their compliance with the provisions of Sharia. It also carefully studies and reviews all topics and requests submitted by the various departments of the bank and takes binding decisions in line with best Shariah-compliant practices. And in spreading the culture of Shariah-compliant banking work among the bank’s employees to help them achieve the desired prosperity for Shariah-compliant investment.

The Sharia Board at Tejara Capital consists of three scholars who are considered among the most prominent jurists of the present era, as they possess extensive knowledge and experience in the field of Sharia and modern Islamic banking. The Shariah Board consists of :



Dr. Esam Al-Enizi

Dr. Al Enizi joined Tejara Capital Investment Bank Shariah Supervisory Board in 2011. He represents the new leadership generation that is emerging in Tejara Capital Investment Bank. Dr. Enizi is noted for his contribution to many research programs on Islamic finance instruments and aspects of the Shariah compliance in modern banking functions. He is a member of the Faculty of Shariah and Islamic Studies at Kuwait University and holds a doctorate degree in Fiqh from the University of Jordan. Dr. Al Enizi is a member of the Shariah Supervisory of Board of several Islamic investment Banks. He is a consultant for many Islamic companies and banks inside and outside Kuwait, and has published many researches specialized in Islamic financing tools and aspects of Sharia compatibility with contemporary banking activities and has participated in many local and international seminars and conferences.



Shaikh Adnan Al Qattan

Shaikh Adnan Al Qattan holds Master’s degree in the Quran and Hadith from the University of Um Al-Qura, Makka, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; and Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Shari’a from the Islamic University, Madeena, Saudi Arabia. Shaikh Al Qattan is also a Judge in the Shari’a Supreme Court, Ministry of Justice – Kingdom of Bahrain. Shaikh Al Qattan is a Member of Shari’a Supervisory Boards for several Islamic banks and he is also Chairman of Al Sanabil Orphans Protection Society, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Charity Establishment under the Royal Court – Kingdom of Bahrain, and President of the Kingdom of Bahrain Hajj Mission. In addition, he is a Friday sermon orator at Al-Fatih Grand Mosque. Shaikh Al Qattan is a regular participant in Islamic committees, courses, seminars and conferences.

Prof. Mohamad Akram Laldin holds a B.A. Honours degree in Islamic Jurisprudence and Legislation from the University of Jordan, Amman, Jordan and a Ph.D. in Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh) from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom. He has presented many papers related to Islamic Banking and Finance and other Fiqh topics at national and International level and has conducted many training sessions particularly on Islamic Banking and Finance for different sectors since 1999. Prof. Mohamad Akram Laldin is currently the Executive Director of International Sharia Research Academy for Islamic finance, Prior to joining ISRA he was an Assistant Professor at the College of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, International Islamic University, Malaysia (IIUM). At present, he is the Member of many Shari’ah Advisory Councils in Malaysia. In addition, he is a Committee member of AAOIFI Shari’ah Standards, Bahrain and other Boards locally and internationally. He is a prolific author of academic works specifically in the areas of Islamic Banking and Finance. He is the recipient of Zaki Badawi Award 2010 for Excellence in Shariah Advisory and Research. He has participated and presented papers in numerous local and international conferences.
